About the role
You will be responsible to manage the Vlaardingen sales team and to personally develop and secure business for the DFDS services. In this senior position you will report to the Managing Director for Vlaardingen, so your focus will be on attracting new business for the Vlaardingen operations and to ensure cross selling to other DFDS businesses.
Your responsibilities:
- Play a central role within the sales department and are responsible for the daily management of the sales team. You also take on a hands-on leadership role and step in when needed;
- Ensure that the inside sales team provides optimal support to the field sales team, such as documenting visit reports, facilitating team meetings, keeping the CRM system up to date, etc.;
- Actively look for ways to improve existing processes. An important aspect is encouraging the development of the department;
- Make sure that communication between these departments runs smoothly. You are the essential link between inside and outside sales, customer service, and our planning department;
- Identifying cross selling opportunities and making sure other regions or product groups are involved to increase total scoring opportunity, in cooperation with Continental Sales Director;
- Selling DFDS services as individual;
- Starting point for lead generation and prospect engagement is the local business to which the sales person/team belongs;
- Upselling the full DFDS network potential is a must;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, and customer service, to ensure excellent service delivery;
- Build a strong and solid sales pipeline;
- Prepare sales reports (through CRM system ) providing regular updates to senior management;
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote company services and generate leads;

You have:
- Proven track record of success in sales within the European logistics industry;
- Experience in managing a sales team;
- Strong understanding of the European logistics industry;
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish long-term relationships;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
- Willingness to frequent travel within the Western European is required.
